Remote Monitoring and Mgt (RMM)

Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM)

Remote monitoring and management (RMM) solutions enable managed services providers (MSPs) to monitor the status of their clients’ networking, servers, desktop computers, mobile devices, peripherals, etc. RMM requires that an agent is installed on the client’s system which communicates with the MSP through the RMM solution. With RMM, MSPs can access their clients’ systems remotely and use remote tools to troubleshoot and repair many issues.

Why It Matters to Your Customers

IT downtime can be very costly to end users. A study released by the ITIC in 2017 found a single hour of downtime can cost large enterprises $100K to $1 million in lost revenue. Businesses may also experience loss if downtime creates frustration for customers who may choose to do business elsewhere in the future. RMM gives end users peace of mind that issues with their IT systems will be recognized and corrected as early as possible to minimize downtime and losses.

RMM solutions can also help extend the life of IT infrastructure and devices and reduce the burden on in-house IT resources. And because RMM is billed as part of a managed services agreement, the end user pays a predictable, fixed cost for the service, rather than dealing with larger expenses when unanticipated repairs are needed.

Why Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) is an Opportunity

RMM is beneficial to MSPs on a number of levels. It automates the management of your clients’ systems and enables you to monitor and manage them simultaneously. This allows you to take on more clients without increasing the number of technicians on staff. Many issues can be handled remotely, saving the time and expense of sending a technician on-site.

RMM also allows you to approach IT services from a proactive, rather than a reactive, perspective. Not only does this mean your clients’ systems run smoothly with fewer disruptions, but you accomplish this with less cost and demand on your resources, while increasing your service to true 24/7/365 monitoring.

RMM is billed as a part of a client’s monthly fee and can be bundled with other services, which can help you improve margin.
