From the editor: Navigating the golden age of orchestration

Discover how the new era of IT orchestration turns complex IT challenges into your next growth engine.

IT Orchestration

I’m writing to you from the shore of Oceanside, Calif., where the 2026 GTDC Summit just concluded. After a couple of days sitting in on keynotes and holding exclusive 1-on-1 sit-downs with the industry’s most influential leaders – including Paul Bay (Ingram Micro), Bob Skelley (Arctic Wolf), and Jason Beal (Exclusive Networks) – one thing is abundantly clear: the era of “distribution-as-logistics” is dead.

What has replaced it is something far more valuable to your business: The golden age of orchestration.

Throughout the summit, the message from the stage was consistent. As GTDC CEO Frank Vitagliano noted in his opening remarks, the IT ecosystem has reached a level of complexity that no single MSP can manage on its own. Whether it’s the tectonic shift toward agentic AI, the relentless noise of 10 trillion weekly security events, or the persistent struggle to find tier-one talent, the challenges of 2026 require a new kind of partnership.

In this issue of the Managed Services Journal newsletter, we’re bringing you the “signal” from the noise of the summit:

  • Ingram Micro’s Paul Bay breaks down how the Xvantage platform is transforming weeks of administrative drag into minutes of actionable commerce.
  • Arctic Wolf’s Bob Skelley explains why the future of security isn’t just better AI, but a human-in-the-loop framework that ends the epidemic of technician alert fatigue.
  • Exclusive Networks’ Jason Beal makes a compelling case for “AIR” (Actual Inter-human Relationships) and details how the CyberFarm initiative is finally building a scalable talent pipeline for the channel.

As EIU Chief Economist Constance Hunter noted in her keynote, we are entering a decade where productivity is the only true hedge against economic uncertainty. The tools, platforms, and “orchestrators” we’ve featured in this special report are the engines that will drive that productivity for your clients—and your bottom line.

The “ugly duckling” of 2025 has matured into a robust, tech-driven 2026. Now is the time to lean into these platforms and lead the evolution.

To your success,
